Earlier this summer I went back home to Wisconsin and got to spend time with my girlfriends. We were celebrating before the wedding of one of the last two in our group from high school. I am so thankful that after a year goes by we are still the best of friends. I appreciate and am blessed by these low maintanence but so important relationships! What are you thankful for these days?xo Jessica
I made this sweet crown for my friend as a woodsy-camping-up north bridal shower veil. I used floral wire, faux green and white flowers and hot glue. I think it turned out simply sweet.
In other stuff lately my brother is visiting for a few weeks so I won’t be blogging too regularly but I’ll try to squeeze some pictures in here. Have a lovely day! Xo Jessica
Happy weekend! I’m off to the farmer’s market then Lowe’s for supplies to make a headboard for our bedroom. we find ourselves reading late into the evenings these days and needing some cushion. xo Jessica Shirt//Target

Lately I’ve been doing a lot of reading and I even spent a few days organizing my craft room which had a years worth of stuff that needed putting away. I was super happy to find a crafting table with bins sized for scrapbook paper on sale at 60% off at Michaels so I got to work. I love looking through my old photo albums from time to time so I thought I’d share some of my pages I made years ago.
Pic 1-3//The first summer we began dating (2007) and went on an awesome camping trip with all my girlfriends and their then boyfriends too.
Pics 4-7//My first trip to Florida, the beach, and Disney world with Ryan’s family. A lot of good memories. Pics 8-15//Our engagement album made by our good friend and wedding photographer; 2011. I love it so so so much! I love scrapbooking but I barely make the time to do it anymore and so I love how easy it is to upload photos into online albums. The quality can be sooo good! How do you like to keep your photos?
Hey guys, TGIF! I’ve been MIA for a few d/t one, not sleeping
at all well and therefore being a grouch all day, and two, well, just see reason one. I’m in a great mood today, however, after thrifting a bit and scoring some cute lace vintage curtains which I hung in my craft room and, I’m super excited about this, a vintage macrame kit. I’ve seen a lot of cute wall hangings lately and wanted to try my own and I might just use that macrame kit for it. Date night tonight; we’re seeing Elysium and I’m eating lots of popcorn. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! xoxo Jessica

I have always loved animals as far back as I can remember. The first job I ever wanted was marine biologist, photo-journalist, then vet, then to own my very own zoo. so cute huh. not sure how I ended up working in social services except I suppose I applied my ability to empathize to the human race as well. I haven’t gone to a zoo for over 4 years so I told the hubs it was time for a little date day the other weekend. I was happily surprised at how much I still enjoy visiting and learning about animals. Especially Gypsy, this sweet lil african elephant. Her tail was bitten off by a bull years ago so she has a little nub. And thusly, she reminds me of my kitty of the same name, Gypsy, who has a crooked and short tail! small world hee hee. Here’s a look at our Dallas zoo. (all photos taken by me:)
Gypsy, the African Elephant (so cute right?!) Loved this guy! Never been so close to a giraffe like this, amazing! I chickened out on feeding them but how sweet is this girl?
this gorilla was just chillin doing some yoga poses. feels good!
seriously scary crocs! another fave moment: this chimp hooting as us right before throwing a decent sized rock (look in his right hand) at the wall! they have amazing gestures + facial expressions! Flamingos have always been a fave of mine albino crocs apparently don’t live long in the wild due to their inability to camoflauge these snakes are gorgeous (behind glass that is) So that’s that my friends. How do you like the zoo?
Loved this chair so it came home with me. Not sure if it’s an Eames because the back is slightly taller than the vintage chairs but it’s sturdy and comfy and i love it.
I love this table so I painted it white and now it’s beside my bed. (below)
Thought these fungus S+P shakers were cute for my budding collection.
Would have been a nice DIY project for a bedroom armoire or kitchen storage.
Cute kids chair for my craft room. it has wheels, that’s all.
reminded me of grandpa’s chair I named Herman, but it was pea-green, and not in a good way. I thought this was funky and could be fun painted. but I won’t go there again for a while. (see here) Cool Brass lamp. nuff said. I kinda wanted this wicker to be my coffee table. but I didn’t decide fast enough and it went home with someone else.
Punch bowl in red, fun! cuz I’m a cute lil bear cookie jar… i am attracted to pottery mugs but I think they wanted like $2, no thanks. Cute nautical colored heels in wrong size.. I’d love to tackle recovering a wingback, someday. For the home theatre goer.. Oh and my mini brass llamas! I got two of these puppies for 50 cents and they sit atop my mantel. got this funky backpack and love using it on our outings/picnics to carry sunscreen and water. really a lifesaver. saw one of these rocking chairs painted kelly green on pinterest and was tempted!went home with this dirty lil chair, cleaned and painted him up!
painted and recovered bench anyone? quirky lil dresser That’s about it for now. I’m still looking for a more mid-century modern looking coffee table and would love a funky console table to replace the turquoise dresser I have in the entry now. Any luck thrifting in your world lately? xo Jessica
