Happy News

So Big announcement today you guys, I’m prego!  We told close family on my visit home when I was 9 weeks; (Actually, true story, they pretty much guessed when I didn’t have any wine at dinner with my parents or at my sister’s shower; so observant they are, I haven’t got a tricky bone in my body ya’ll)!  My hubby wasn’t able to come with me due to his work but he called his family the same day and everyone seemed really happy for us.  I’m 20 weeks in 2 days and we are excited to find out the sex this month (fingers way crossed!).

Everything has gone really well, no sickness at all, just some nassau associated with smells (mostly feet, dog breath, eggs, the thought of raw chicken), heartburn, aversion to healthy foods like salad and green things (I’ve been eating broccoli and cucumbers lately tho), fatigue, and the emotional ups and downs (I teared up watching the Maury show, certain commercials, and a little during the movie Gravity which is seriously amazing).  I pretty much could live on breads, pasta, potatoes, cheese, skittles, pie and ice cream/yogurt for the next 5 months but I try to eat lots of protein too.  I’ve gained 4 pounds so far but I had previously gained like 10 since we got married but a friend told me that weight doesn’t count, humph.  I read for my pre-pregnant BMI I can gain the typical amount of 25-35 pounds.  I’m not trying to gain weight, I’m just waiting for it to happen and I’m totally surprised it hasn’t just piled on just yet due to my new diet. I do exercise when I feel like it, walking our dogs, yoga 1-2 times weekly, and sometimes I weight train with my husband. Otherwise, I’m just enjoying everything that my body is doing and reading a lot.  Since we’re seeing a midwife and planning a drug/intervention-free birth I’m reading tons of birth stories (this blog) and books written by midwives.

My husband and I are simply ecstatic about starting a family together and begin this amazing new journey.  xo Jessica

Instagram weekly

These were taken a couple weeks ago when we went to see my stepmom in dallas for dinner. The NYLO hotel was really sleek and modern. Other than that life is relaxed and easy lately. My brother is in town for a visit which is keeping me entertained and busy cooking for two men! On another note I can’t believe it’s September already. My little sister is getting married in three months and I’m getting excited! Xo Jessica

Wisconsin + friends

Earlier this summer I went back home to Wisconsin and got to spend time with my girlfriends. We were celebrating before the wedding of one of the last two in our group from high school. I am so thankful that after a year goes by we are still the best of friends. I appreciate and am blessed by these low maintanence but so important relationships! What are you thankful for these days?xo Jessica DSC_0158 DSC_0153 DSC_0145 DSC_0143 DSC_0127 DSC_0125 DSC_0162 DSC_0163 DSC_0196 DSC_0244 DSC_0236 DSC_0230DSC_0203DSC_0194DSC_0214DSC_0206DSC_0263 DSC_0191 DSC_0189 DSC_0187 DSC_0183 DSC_0182 DSC_0180 DSC_0175

Weekend Instagram: Bishop Arts district

Me and Instagram get along.  I find a lot of inspiring photos out there from regular folks who find beautiful moments and things everyday.  Here’s a few of my favorites from this weekend where we spent an afternoon at the zoo and a fun evening in the Bishop arts district in south Dallas.  It’s probably my favorite area of Dallas because it’s super funky with tons of great bars and eclectic restaurants, boutiques and people.  This was the first time I took the hubs there since I discovered it a few years ago while working in the area.  I’m pretty sure he loved it and all the different beers on tap at each place we stopped.  If you’re in Dallas check it out for sure; it’s on Bishop and Davis streets in Oak Cliff right off 35E south.  Lemme know what you think!dallas zooMcCaws at the Dallas zooIMG_8300Coveted couch at Tilman’sIMG_8240Bar at Tillmans with a funky wood cut out wallIMG_8299Tillman’s roadhouse grill, awesome place for drinks and eclectic dishes like goat cheese and truffle tater totsIMG_8242His (‘Velvet hammer’) and Her (‘Ginny’) drinks at OddfellowsIMG_8246Funky cafe, OddfellowsIMG_8245Cozy bar at Whitehill ExchangeIMG_8298Street musicians on BishopIMG_8292Jeans sculpture art

My first ever Birchbox

I got the coolest thing in the mail today!  I waited for like four months–there’s a waiting list for these seriously.  Birchbox is a beauty club and for ten bucks a month you get 6 or so samples of products.  I thought this would be a fun way for me to try out new products without spending a lot.  I’m pretty stingy when it comes to all products really but when I do shell out for a product I love it’s worth it.  Plus, it’s so much fun to get stuff in the mail!

1//Dude’s colonge, yum  2//Rose gold colored nail polish (motivation to quit chewing!) 3//Hair mask 4//Twistband hair tie (wanted this!) 5//Yummy smelling lip gloss (my fave) 6//Oh-so-soft Whipped shea butter (smells like banana bread says Ryan)I couldn’t wait to get dressed even to try on all my new stuff!  Today is getting out some Christmas decor and going out for movie night, don’t laugh, we’re seeing Twilight!  Have a great weekend ya’ll!  Any fun plans??

Ten photos: Day 4

Today I’m super excited because my mom#2 is in Dallas on business! We’re going to meet for lunch and shop around for a couple hours; the bff is coming along too:)  I haven’t seen my mom#2 since our wedding in June so I’m off to get ready!  Happy Wednesday ya’ll! Enjoy these photos I took of some pretty leaves I gathered on my walk, I kinda like them all;)

Cloudy day

Hello Monday!

The weather is changing here and it’s going down from the 70s/80s to the 60s this week-yay for sweater weather!  Today is super cloudy and rainy so my pictures (taken with my iPhone) are dark and grainy, but I kinda like how it matches up with outside;)  Since one of my goals is to start sewing I had to clean up my craft room to make room so I took a couple pictures of that mess.  Other than that it’s been a chill day at home with the animals and the hubby.  It’s a great night for popcorn and reading-hope you had a lovely weekend as well!

I curled my hair by myself for the first time pretty much ever

Wald Bike Basket love

Wald Bike parts

I ordered this super cute bike basket from Amazon so that I could leisurely ride to the local store and get small items for dinner.  It’s supposed to hold a full sack!  I haven’t tried it out yet but I love the look of it.  When I was researching the company who makes the basket I found that they started in a small town just south of where I grew up in Wisconsin then when they grew and needed space to manufacture they moved the company to the small town where my hubby grew up in Kentucky.  Just thought that small tidbit was rather uncanny and it makes me smile every time I look at my bike basket. We were just meant to be 🙂
