My style: stripes + hat

Hey guys, TGIF! I’ve been MIA for a few d/t one, not sleeping at all well and therefore being a grouch all day, and two, well, just see reason one.   I’m in a great mood today, however, after thrifting a bit and scoring some cute lace vintage curtains which I hung in my craft room and, I’m super excited about this,  a vintage macrame kit.  I’ve seen a lot of cute wall hangings lately and wanted to try my own and I might just use that macrame kit for it.  Date night tonight; we’re seeing Elysium and I’m eating lots of popcorn. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! xoxo  Jessica

Thrifting: Summer edition

Loved this chair so it came home with me. Not sure if it’s an Eames because the back is slightly taller than the vintage chairs but it’s sturdy and comfy and i love it.
IMG_8191I love this table so I painted it white and now it’s beside my bed. (below)
IMG_6270Thought these fungus S+P shakers were cute for my budding collection.
DSC_0008Would have been a nice DIY project for a bedroom armoire or kitchen storage.
IMG_5290Cute kids chair for my craft room. it has wheels, that’s all.

IMG_5292 reminded me of grandpa’s chair I named Herman,  but it was pea-green, and not in a good way.IMG_5293 I thought this was funky and could be fun painted. but I won’t go there again for a while. (see here)IMG_5294 Cool Brass lamp. nuff said. IMG_5295I kinda wanted this wicker to be my coffee table. but I didn’t decide fast enough and it went home with someone else.
IMG_6166 Punch bowl in red, fun!IMG_6170 cuz I’m a cute lil bear cookie jar…IMG_6172 i am attracted to pottery mugs but I think they wanted like $2, no thanks.IMG_6173 Cute nautical colored heels in wrong size..IMG_6174 I’d love to tackle recovering a wingback, someday.IMG_6175 For the home theatre goer..IMG_6176 Oh and my mini brass llamas! I got two of these puppies for 50 cents and they sit atop my mantel.IMG_6116 got this funky backpack and love using it on our outings/picnics to carry sunscreen and water. really a lifesaver.IMG_6114 saw one of these rocking chairs painted kelly green on pinterest and was tempted!IMG_6260went home with this dirty lil chair, cleaned and painted him up!
IMG_6261 painted and recovered bench anyone?IMG_6262 quirky lil dresser IMG_6263 IMG_6286 IMG_6287That’s about it for now. I’m still looking for a more mid-century modern looking coffee table and would love a funky console table to replace the turquoise dresser I have in the entry now.  Any luck thrifting in your world lately? xo Jessica

My style: Denim + neon

Hey ya’ll!  Today I’m working on items for my Etsy shop and planning stuff for my sister’s Bachelorette party!  I’m also waiting on some good news hopefully with a potential J.O.B! I’ve been unemployed for a whole year now and I think it’s time to get back though I do love being a stay at home wife for the time being.   Got to stay busy to keep from going as my friend says cray-cray.  Hope you’re enjoying your week, xox JessicaDSC_0467 DSC_0501 DSC_0474

Getting settled & a thrifted shirt

Oh my gosh, we’re back! We had the best vacation ever! I really mean Ever!  The beach in St. Pete is completely gorgeous; I couldn’t get enough. I could never get enough, unless of course we moved there;) (hint hint hubby).  I have lots of pictures to sort through and I can’t wait to post them.  We stopped in New Orleans for 2 nights on our drive and I loved it. What a wild place.  We spent 6 amazing days with family, the Rutherford side, and had the best time together.  We stayed in a charming condo directly on the beach and had balcony and bedroom views of the beach.  We lived and breathed beach every day and I realized that that’s where we love to be the most.  There is nothing more peaceful, inspiring and grounding than walking along barefoot on the sand and being near the endless water.

Well I have lots of cleaning, laundry and organizing to do today.  Hope you all had a great week and didn’t miss me too much, haha!  Here’s a few pics of my thrifted shirt (and my hair is getting so long I can’t believe it!)  See you soon, Jess2pose pose2 pose2vestSleeveless shirt: thrifted

Stamped beach totes DIY

I’m so excited because we’re leaving for Florida tomorrow for a weeks vacation!  We’re staying in a condo on the beach, yay!  I’ve been to florida once before but it was winter so I’m excited to laze around on the beach this time.  I made some beach totes to carry beachy things around in.  I’m giving a couple for gifts for family who will be there as well.  Hope they like em!

IMG_6664I cut out a cross shape from a piece of foam, glued a wine cork to the back for a handle, then dipped it in fabric paint to make the cross motif bag. Easy! I later filled in any gaps with a brush.IMG_6647 IMG_6648 IMG_6652For the ombre heart bag I drew a heart shape on the bag then used wine corks as stamps (for another project to use wine cork stamps look here!) I started with black paint at the bottom on the heart then used 2 shades of gray and finally white at the top.  I think it turned out pretty cute:)IMG_6653IMG_6660For my chevron patterned bag I used the wine cork stamps again starting with aqua, then turquoise, then sea foam green.  Very beachy eh!
IMG_6666IMG_6668Jayla puppy has to stay at the dog kennel while we are gone but someday I’d love to take her to the beach with us! She loves the water!  I’m filling up the totes with some goodies then all set!

You can follow me on Instagram at #Jesshm28 during the trip all next week; I’ll be sure to post lots of beach scenes!  Have a lovely week ya’ll!

Make a t-shirt scarf

DIY T-shirt Scarf

Since it’s fall and since I love to rock a scarf with just about everything I thought it was time to do this much-pinterested DIY.  After consulting my pin from this lovely blog scarf tutorial, I grabbed a shirt from my thrift pile and started cutting and voiala! Here’s the before and after pics–sorry about the no-makeup.  This was pretty much just a practice run–next time I’ll make a much prettier scarf and maybe even add some beads!

Materials: old tee + scissors
