Home

I’m back after 8 days in Wisconsin visiting my family and celebrating and planning for my sister’s upcoming wedding.  I’m so grateful for the people in my life and the willingness of our family to always come together to support and love each other.  Sometimes it’s hard and things aren’t perfect but it’s worth the effort to be there for the people you care about.  I just wish I could have them all in one place.

Antica Farmacista//body moisturizer in grapefruit: a Lovely lotion. The scent is light and fresh but not overwhelming. I stuck this in my purse for on the go use. full size is $25 but it would be worth it.

Color club polish in purple//cute color

Davines//love smoothing shampoo: I took this on my NY trip and left it at my hotel, but I got to use it several times and it became my second ever favorite shampoo due to its smell and the way it left my (dry, frizzy) hair feeling super soft and smooth. Would buy this at $24 full size for sure.

Clay gem jewelry

Hi friends happy thursday. I’m getting ready for a fun trip back home to Wisconsin for my sisters bridal party and bachelorette so I’m busy making some fun things for her.  I’d love to share what I made after to keep it a surprise.   For today I wanted to share some clay gems I made.  I used sculpey clay in a granite gray and a lovely copper shade to make these beads.  I rolled various sizes of clay into balls then used a razor to slice off bits to form a gem shape.  Then I used a bamboo stick to make holes through the gem so I could string them.  I followed the baking instructions then I had my beads.  Once I strung them I had some funky new jewels, easy as that!  It seems like there are endless possibilities with clay, see what else I did here and here! also here.  Thanks for looking!

DIY embellished sunglasses

I love quirky details on sunglasses so I decided to make my own pair of embellished sunnies.   It’s really easy to do and you’ll have your own totally unique pair in no time.

Supplies: sunglasses, earrings, hot glue and gun or craft glue, wire cutters.  I thrifted these cute gold bows for $2.
DSC_0076Step 1: Carefully cut off the earring backs with the wire cutters. Use safety glasses and clean up any tiny pieces of metal that come off. Slivers suck.

Step 2: Hot glue the earrings to the sunglasses.  I glued them to the top corners where they look cutest.DSC_0080

DSC_0090I made another pair with cute owl earrings, aren’t they a hoot?DSC_0088

Step 3: Let them dry for a few minutes then their ready to wear!DSC_0095

I think this would be totally cute with all sorts of beads and gems!DSC_0109

My Style: Vintage polka dots

I hope you had a nice weekend readers! My brother is here with us so we decided to go to the Perot science museum for an afternoon in dallas. We all enjoyed the exhibits on dinosaurs (still fascinated by t-rex), the human body (they had real slices of human bodies!), weather and the solar system. Oh and I loved the gem and minerals exhibits. I’ll probably share some of the pics I took there soon. Afterwards we had pizza at Enos in bishop arts. Last night we had four cops in front of our house again talking to our neighbors. Not sure what that was about but this is usually a quiet safe place as it has been for the last five years. I just hope it’s nothing serious. As for today have you guys played any apps lately? I’m getting addicted to candy crush and wordly. Happy Monday day. Xo Jessica

Mini bangle dreamcatchers

I have a thing for dreamcatchers and I wanted to make these mini ones out of some glass bangles I had that I don’t wear anymore. I found mini doilies in the dollar bins at michaels crafts and used string, clay beads and feathers to create these cuties. I didn’t use any technique to make them besides stringing the doilies through every other loop and wrapping the string around the bangle going over and under to keep it from moving. I’ve hung them in most of our windows for a pop of color. Have you ever made a dreamcatcher? Xo Jessica

Instagram weekly

These were taken a couple weeks ago when we went to see my stepmom in dallas for dinner. The NYLO hotel was really sleek and modern. Other than that life is relaxed and easy lately. My brother is in town for a visit which is keeping me entertained and busy cooking for two men! On another note I can’t believe it’s September already. My little sister is getting married in three months and I’m getting excited! Xo Jessica
